Race Information

Sunday, July 29th at Pott’s Harbor in Harpswell, Maine. (Rain Date is Aug 5th)


When to Arrive

Registration for all racers starts at 8:00am at Erica’s Seafood, 505 Basin Point Rd, Harpswell, ME 04079. You will also be able to purchase merchandise here prior to the races.

Races start promptly at 10:00am.


Driving Directions to Registration Location

  • Coming from Bowdoin College in Brunswick:
    • Follow ME-123 S/Harpswell Rd for 11.4 miles
    • Turn right onto Ash Point Rd
    • Turn right onto Basin Point Rd, follow almost all the way to the end
    • Destination will be on the left
  • Coming from Cook’s Corner in Brunswick:
    • Follow ME-24/Harpswell Islands Rd for 8.1 miles
    • Turn right onto Mountain Rd, follow to the end
    • Turn left onto ME-123 S, follow for 5.3 miles
    • Turn right onto Ash Point Rd
    • Turn right onto Basin Point Rd, follow almost all the way to the end
    • Destination will be on the left

Where to Launch

There will be 10-12 boat slips available at the Dolphin Marina. Reservation are by email at info@dolphinmarinaandrestaurant.com. You can also fuel up there.

Launching for vessels can be done in multiple locations, but please be aware that each location has limited to no parking.

High tide will be at 12:40 pm and Low tide at 7:01 pm — a perfect day for launching.

You can launch at:

  • The Dolphin Marina
    • 515 Basin Point Rd, Harpswell, ME
    • This is the closest location to races.
  • Mackerel Cove Landing
    • 33 Abner Point Road, Bailey Island, ME
    • This heavily-used landing provides recreational and commercial access to the busy harbor on Mackerel Cove. Parking is available for up to 15 cars in the neighboring lot.
  • Garrison Cove Boat Launch
    • 58 Garrison Cove Road, Bailey Island, ME
    • Limited parking is available at the top of the beach.
  • Pott's Point Wharf and Launch
    • 1985 Harpswell Neck Road, Harpswell, ME
    • Please park on the right so as not to block wharf traffic.

Tips for Viewing

The races will be best viewed from the water, and you can watch the races from a boat on either side of the course. There may be limited spaces for you to view from land, but you will be a good distance away.

The races will also be broadcasted on VHF Channel 10.


Where to Eat

  • You can get food right there near the registration location at either Erica’s Seafood or The Dolphin Restaurant.
  • Across Pott’s Harbor there is also Estes Lobster House, 1906 Harpswell Neck Rd, Harpswell, ME 04079
  • If you are launching on Bailey Island there are multiple restaurants to choose from
  • For snacks and ice for your coolers you can stop at Ship to Shore Store, 1220 Harpswell Neck Rd, Harpswell, ME and Bailey Island General Store, 2124 Harpswell Islands Rd, Bailey Island, ME

Race merchandise will also be available for sale at Erica’s Seafood, 505 Basin Point Rd, Harpswell, ME 04079 on the day of the races, and you will also be able to purchase merchandise from a Committee Member boat that will make its rounds throughout the event.


Race Classes

This year there will be a total of 31 races ranging from non-working boats to Novi Boats to the fastest lobster boat with lots in between.


Race Prizes

Each race will award a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize in the form of cash and/or fishing gear.


Race Proceeds

Any funds we raise will be used to put on a safe and fun event — but after we cover our costs all proceeds will be donated to The Harpswell Santa Fund, a cause that was formed in 1991 by the lobstermen of Harpswell to help support local families in need.
